Foundation Announces Lilly Endowment Community Scholar
The Parke County Community Foundation has announced the results of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholar Award selection process. Riverton Parke High School senior Kelsey Katopodis has been awarded a four-year full tuition scholarship to any accredited Indiana college or university. Several dozen other seniors, and over 100 other current college students from Parke County, will share more than $200,000 in additional awards.
Kelsey is the daughter of Michael Katopodis and Jessica True. She plans to attend Rose-Hulman University to pursue a degree in engineering. Kelsey is a member of ...

Antoinette Green Fund Brings the Opera to the Ritz
Recently the Antoinette Green Fund for Classical Music Appreciation provided grades K-3 in Parke County the opportunity to personally experience the Indianapolis Opera at the Ritz Theatre. They showcased Pinocchio on April 8th this year for the students. The Indianapolis Opera has been coming to the Ritz since 2008.
The students and teachers were invited to experience the talents of five classically trained vocalists which told the fairy tale with a contemporary twist as it tackles the issue of bullying and honesty.

The Parke County Community Foundation Makes Last Grant of the 2014 Calendar Year
The Community Foundation recently awarded the Parke County Fairboard, Inc. a grant of $12,000 to go towards a new 16ft screen, projector, and wireless internet capability for the community building. These additions will make the building more versatile for different events to be hosted here.

Families Eating and Exercising Together (FEET) and the Parke County Community Foundation are partnering in a local food drive for the Parke County, Mecca New Life Wesleyan Church, and the Bridgeton Baptist Church food pantries. The food drive will be held Friday, November 15thfrom 8:30am-4:30pm at the Parke County Community Foundation (115 N. Market St. Rockville, IN 47872). We will be collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries (toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, etc.) only. Rockville, IN – The Parke County Community Foundation recently hosted a drawing at the Parke County Fair. The drawing was for five nonprofits to receive a grant of $100 each on behalf of the community member that submitted their name in the drawing. This year’s winners were the Parke County Toys for Tots, submitted by Linda Smith; the Riley’s Children’s Hospital Fund, submitted by Bridget Jones; the Parke County Food Pantry, submitted by Elise Pratt; the Rockville Christian Church, submitted by Joe Martin; and Southwest Parke Schools Elementary Libraries, submitted by Joanie Lunsford.

Rockville, IN – Fourteen adults, who have decided to return to college in order to excel in their current or future career paths, recently received scholarship support from the Parke County Community Foundation. Scholarships and/or laptops were awarded to Amy Bunch, Bonnie Bunch, Christopher Chobanov, Teresa Christman, Cathy Earl, Elizabeth Edmons., Donna Eslinger, Allison Herzog, Cortney Leonard, Samantha Libka, Emily Marshall, Kathleen Rayborn, Carol Robinson, and Samantha Slaven to provide assistance in their educational journey.
